Where or where will you take this week’s prompt, “By Blood”
I know where I’m going with it, I’m going to write about my Dad. I miss him in a way words will never touch. Frankly, I’ve been avoiding writing about him because when his name or essence passes through my lips, I can’t keep composure. But, my therapist suggested it’s time to start peeling that back, bit by bit. So, here we go.
Honestly, I’ve done a ton of writing this week, back and forth with Oregon representatives and senators regarding a very shady water deal that is unfolding in our region of Central Oregon. I’ll share some of that writing soon, as these water issues in Oregon are emblematic of the water battle occurring and to come all over the West. The relics of a 110 year old water law and water system that has seen very little legislative updates in 100 years is showing its age as climactic extremes persist, and unbridled development continue in arid regions. Don’t worry, I’m still an optimist, albeit I’m a fired up optimist who is seeing clearly how badly we need campaign finance reform in Oregon.
Stay cool through this hot week in the West.
